The Wine Society awarded Signature Digital the contract to design and develop an iPhone App following a detailed tender process.
The App required the ability to link with their custom systems and thousands of members, enabling orders to be placed via their iPhones. Our brief included the need to present clearly information to the user for a variety of products on offer and furthermore that search and selection be easy and simple to use.
The App also had to replicate a large proportion of informational content from The Wine Society's website which educates users about wine and encourages membership.
The App needed to connect to a custom database of The Wine Society and also download large volumes of
product data in the shortest time possible.
The App needed to store and process display guides and text content in a way that enabled this large volume of content to quickly load and be easy to find.
Secure transactional connectivity and processing of users personal card details wishing to purchase was also a primary requirement. Personal data needed to be securely encrypted and sent between the phone and The Wine Society server.
The App was launched in early July 2011 and received great reviews. Before even being publicised the App had multiple downloads and purchases. It securely processes orders daily from members of The Wine Society and has been judged a success. Careful design has ensured branding is strong throughout the App and importantly keeps within brand guidelines. Feedback validates that the large inventory of products are easy to find and purchase.
